Knowledge belongs to everyone

NRIF requires all grantees to make their research outputs freely available. Every paper, dataset, and report produced under NRIF funding must be deposited in this repository and published under an open licence, ensuring that publicly funded research benefits the widest possible audience.

Open Licence

All NRIF-funded outputs must be published under a Creative Commons CC-BY licence, free to read, download, share, and build upon with attribution.

No Embargo

Grantees may not place publications behind a paywall or embargo. Research funded by public money must be publicly accessible from the date of publication.

Data Deposit

Where feasible and ethical, primary research data must be deposited alongside publications, enabling replication, reanalysis, and secondary use by other Gambian researchers.

Institutional publications

Working papers and policy documents produced by the NRIF Secretariat and Governing Board, informing the design of NRIF's programmes and The Gambia's national research agenda.

No publications yet

NRIF's working papers and policy briefs are being prepared for publication. Documents will appear here as they are finalised and cleared for release. To be notified when new publications are available, email publications@nrif.gm.

Grant-funded research publications

This section will host peer-reviewed papers and research reports produced by NRIF Cycle 1 grantees. All outputs will be open access and freely downloadable.

First publications expected 2027

Cycle 1 grants launched in June 2026 with award periods extending through December 2027. Peer-reviewed publications from NRIF-funded research will begin appearing in this repository from 2027 as grantees complete their projects and submit outputs. Check back regularly; this repository will grow as Gambian researchers publish.

NRIF Grantees: Submit your publication

If you are an active NRIF grantee and have produced a publication or research output, submit it to this repository by emailing publications@nrif.gm with the paper, author details, journal/venue, DOI (if available), and your NRIF grant reference number. All submissions are reviewed within 10 working days.
